In Prague we can find almost any architectural style, not only unique examples of the Medieval and Baroque times, but modern architecture as well. As you are likely aware, the historical centre of Prague is on the UNESCO Heritage List. To avoid the crowds and enjoy the city I suggest starting at 9:00 in the morning rather then at 10:00 A.M. or later. Prague gets very crowded during the main tourist season (April-October). But take this only as my suggestion, the starting time is flexible.

There are many ways to see the city of Prague. Prague is a city with a compact historic centre, meaning that it is possible to walk to most important sights. However, the best way how to get to know Prague is a combination of walking and riding. The riding can be done in a car, van, taxi, or public transportation. Our underground, tram system, and even public buses are well interconnected and offer a convenient and economical way of getting around. The historical city center is accessible mostly only on foot due to the narrow streets and pedestrian zones. Of course the car tour is much more comfortable. During the car tour you can of course see more sights than when using public transportation.

The tour with a car / van support

This classic city tour provides you with a general overview of all the most important sights in Prague. We will start the tour of Prague at the beautiful library at the Strahov Monastery. From the Strahov hill is one of the most beautiful views of Prague. Then our driver will drive with us around the Prague Loreto to the Prague Castle. We will walk through the castle courtyards and visit the St. Vitus Cathedral, which is on the third courtyard of the Prague Castle complex. If time constraints allow it is possible to visit the Old Royal Palace as well. Under the castle our driver will pick us up and drive with us through other historical districts of Prague – the Little Quarter (Lennon Wall, Kampa Island) and the New Town (The Dancing House, the Wenceslas Square). We will walk through Old Town Square where the famous Astronomical clock is located and we will cross the Charles Bridge as well.

The tour takes about 4 hours.

While browsing the winding streets of the Old Town of Prague you will feel like you have traveled back to the middle ages… We will walk through Old Town to see the Old Town Square with many interesting buildings, the famous Astronomical clock, the Ungelt area, the Klementinum, the Estates Theatre, the Karolinum, and much more. If you would like we can visit the Church of Our Lady of Victory with the world known Infant Jesus of Prague. It is possible to stop at the Lennon Wall and at the Kampa Island as well.

The tour takes about 4 hours.

Notes: The best is to combine this tour with a half-day tour of Hradcany and the New Town with the car support and a Jewish Quarter tour. Then you would have a 3-day package tour in Prague. Of course it is possible to arrange it as a car tour, but it is best to explore the downtown of Prague on foot.

Half-day tour of Hradcany and the New Town with the car support

Half-day tour of Vysehrad, Orechovka and Petrin with the car support

Our driver will take us to Vysehrad, where there used to stand the second castle in Prague, which was destroyed during the Hussite wars. Today there is an impressive Neo-Gothic church and nearby the famous Slavin, where the composer Antonin Dvorak and other famous Czechs are buried. After a tour of Vysehrad we will go to see the cubist villas under Vysehrad. We will then continue to the Orechovka district. There we will have a look at the Villa Mueller; It is the most famous villa from the time of Masaryk's first republic. The villa was built for the Czech construction entrepreneur Dr. Frantisek Mueller, the co-owner of the major Czech building company Kapsa & Mueller. Dr.Mueller entrusted the design of the villa, with its major representative function, to the architect Adolf Loos, his frequent co-worker and personal friend. It was here where Adolf Loos was able to embody the ideas of his Raumplan – cube space. We will then take a funicular up Petrin hill and climb up to the Petrin Tower, to see the city from a bird's eye view. At the end we will visit the Prague Loreto church with its famous treasury.

The tour takes about 4 hours.

Notes: I have to mention that the Villa Mueller is very popular and the institution organizes guided tours. It is open only 4 days in a week. The tours are generally small - maximum 15 people. I will have to book the tour for you in advance. My personal opinion is that it is really something special. The Prague Loreto is closed on Mondays. It is possible to prolong the tour and see other interesting sites of so called Great Prague, such as the district of Vinohrady (the Royal Vineyards) with the Zizkov TV Tower, the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord, which was build by Josip Plecnik etc.
